About Us

Our breeding philosophy includes Breeding for Type, Feeding for Production. We strive for excellence by building on our own herd while investing in world renowned, deep-pedigreed cow families. Our focus has been to breed quality show animals but recently we have moved to expand upon both high index and high production individuals.

Crovalley is located 35 minutes off of Highway 401 in beautiful Peterborough County. We are also approximately 1.5 hours away from Toronto International Airport. We host tours very often so if you can come and visit, stop on by.

Home of Crovalley Holsteins

John and Cynthia, along with their four children, Christina, Justin, Ryan and Vanessa, share a passion for the dairy cattle industry. A commitment to a lifestyle of family farming is what makes Crovalley work around the clock to breed, own, develop, and house some of the finest dairy genetics.

Genetics
In the past decade, more focus has been emphasized on developing cow families from the most deep-pedigreed cow families in Canada. As well, some elite show animals have been bought, developed, and sold by Crovalley Holsteins. Mawacres Warden Patricia was bought by Crovalley before being placed as the 1st-ever Milking Yearling and eventual Junior Champion at the 1985 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. Animals from the Gyspy Grand family, Laurie Sheik family, Glenridge Citation Roxy and Springfarm Rosetta family have been added to the Crovalley herd. High-genomic cow families are now an interest at Crovalley as well.

Facilities
After a devastating tornado and fire in the 80's, new facilities can be found at Crovalley. In the last 5 years, an extension to the main milking barn has been added to accomodate more milking cows. A driving shed has been added to house all machinery and a coverall was built for all hay and straw storage. Recently, a new office was built at Crovalley in 2011 and 2 bunker silos were added also in the summer of 2011. Renovations around Crovalley are continous in order to help house over 70 milking cows and 200 purebred animals. As embryo transfer is a large part of Crovalley's breeding program, many more recipients are added to the total number of animals housed on the farm.
